1General Eligibility
1.1 Age Requirements
- All participants must be at least 12 years of age on race day (June 13, 2026)
- Participants aged 12-17 must have parental or guardian consent to register and participate
- The Kids' Run is available for children aged 5-11 years
1.2 Registration
- Registration is limited to 500 participants and will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis
- All participants must complete online registration and sign the liability waiver
- Registration fees are non-refundable and non-transferable except as outlined in Section 8
- False information provided during registration may result in disqualification without refund
2Race Day Requirements
2.1 Check-In & Bib Collection
- All participants must check in at the Expo powered by Solefit to collect their race bib and timing chip
- Valid government-issued photo identification must be presented at check-in
- Race bibs are non-transferable and must be worn visibly on the front of the body throughout the entire race
- Timing chips must be properly attached to running shoes as instructed
2.2 Start Time & Corrals
- The race will begin at 8:00 AM Pacific Time
- Participants must line up in their assigned starting corrals based on estimated finish time
- The course will close at 10:30 AM (2.5 hours after start time)
3Course Rules
3.1 Course Navigation
- Participants must follow the designated 10-kilometer course around Stanley Park Seawall
- Cutting the course, taking shortcuts, or leaving the marked route will result in immediate disqualification
- All participants must follow directions from course marshals, volunteers, and officials at all times
- Participants must obey all traffic laws and signals
3.2 Aid Stations
- Water and electrolyte stations will be located at designated points along the course
- Medical aid stations are available for emergencies only
- Participants are responsible for their own additional hydration and nutrition
⚠️ IMPORTANT: Course Closure
The course will officially close at 10:30 AM. Participants who have not reached the halfway point by 9:15 AM will be asked to move to the sidewalk. Those unable to finish within the time limit will not receive an official finish time but may complete the course at their own pace on the sidewalk.
4Conduct & Sportsmanship
4.1 Expected Behavior
- All participants must display good sportsmanship and courtesy toward fellow runners, volunteers, spectators, and officials
- Abusive, threatening, or unsportsmanlike conduct will result in immediate disqualification and removal from the event
- The use of profane, discriminatory, or offensive language is strictly prohibited
4.2 Prohibited Items & Activities
- No bicycles, roller skates, rollerblades, skateboards, or animals (except registered service animals)
- No strollers, baby joggers, or wheeled devices of any kind
- No headphones or earbuds that prevent participants from hearing course instructions and warnings
- No personal music devices with external speakers
- No unauthorized support vehicles or pacing assistance
- No possession or consumption of alcoholic beverages or illegal substances before or during the race
4.3 Littering
Littering is strictly prohibited. Participants must dispose of all waste in designated receptacles or carry it to the next aid station. Environmental stewardship is a core value of Around the Wall Race.
5Timing & Results
5.1 Official Timing
- Official chip timing will record gun time (start of race) and net time (from crossing start line)
- Awards and rankings are based on gun time unless otherwise specified
- Participants who do not cross the start line timing mat will not receive an official time
- Participants must cross the finish line with their assigned bib and timing chip to receive an official time
5.2 Results Publication
- Preliminary results will be posted within 2 hours of the race conclusion
- Official results will be published within 48 hours on the race website
- Participants may review and dispute results within 7 days of publication
6Awards & Prizes
6.1 Award Categories
- Overall Male/Female: Top 3 finishers (1st, 2nd, 3rd place)
- Age Group Awards: Top 3 male and female finishers in each 5-year age group (12-17, 18-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70+)
- Local Heroes: Top Vancouver resident finishers (separate male/female)
6.2 Award Ceremony
- Award ceremony will take place at 10:45 AM at the finish line area
- Winners must be present to receive awards; no exceptions
- Age groups with fewer than 5 participants may be combined with adjacent age groups
- Participants may only receive one award (highest placement takes precedence)
7Disqualification
Participants may be disqualified for any of the following reasons:
- Providing false information during registration
- Running with a bib not assigned to them (bib fraud)
- Course cutting or failing to complete the entire course
- Receiving unauthorized assistance or pacing
- Using prohibited items or equipment
- Unsportsmanlike conduct or failure to follow official instructions
- Running with headphones after being warned by officials
- Violating any rule outlined in this document
Disqualified participants will not receive finish times, medals, or awards and will not be eligible for refunds.
8Weather & Safety
8.1 Weather Conditions
- The race will proceed in light rain or typical Vancouver weather conditions
- In the event of severe weather (lightning, extreme winds, dangerous conditions), race officials reserve the right to delay, modify, or cancel the race
- Participants will be notified of any changes via email and the race website
8.2 Cancellation & Refund Policy
- If the race is cancelled due to circumstances beyond our control (severe weather, natural disaster, public safety emergency), no refunds will be provided
- Participants may have the option to defer registration to the following year (subject to availability)
- Partial refunds may be offered if the event is significantly modified
8.3 Personal Safety
- Participants are responsible for their own health and safety
- Medical clearance from a physician is strongly recommended before participating
- Participants should immediately notify course officials if they feel unwell
- Emergency medical services will be available on the course and at the finish line
9Photography & Media
By participating in Around the Wall Race, participants grant permission to the event organizers and sponsors to use their name, voice, image, and likeness in photographs, video recordings, and other media for promotional purposes without compensation. Participants may opt out by contacting race organizers in writing at least 48 hours before the event.
10Changes to Rules
Race organizers reserve the right to modify these rules at any time. Participants will be notified of significant changes via email. Continued participation constitutes acceptance of any modifications.
